Description
The M9 bayonet is designed to mount to a standard AR by attaching to the bayonet lug and sliding over the flash hider. In order for the bayonet to fit, the hilt has to have the hole for the flash hider, and it also has to hold the bayonet a certain distance below the barrel. This keeps the bayonet pointed straight.
Big bore ARs usually do not have a way to mount a bayonet. The flash hider is too big for the hilt, and also most of the do not have a bayonet lug. But there are a few AR front sights for large bore rifles that have bayonet lugs. The most common of these is the one from DPMS. It has a lug, but because the barrel is so much larger, the lug sits 0.200″ lower than a normal bayonet lug. This would mean a bayonet wouldn’t fit properly.
By redesigning the hilt, there is now room for a much larger diameter flash hider. And the hilt is taller, so it centers the bayonet 0.200″ lower, with mean it makes the dimensions correct for the bayonet.
The hole will be sized to fit with one of our thread protectors. It will also fit a standard A2 flash hider. Any larger muzzle device like the flash hider pictured, would require drilling that hole to fit. See the product images for an example of the bayonet hilt before and after drilling for a larger hole.
Made out of aluminum.
